Masks I Have Been Loving

Hello again!

I’m so excited to share the masks I have been trying out & loving recently. As the weather changes, it’s a good idea to adjust our skincare routine to avoid skin complications such as dry, irritated skin. I’ve picked out my top six masks to indulge you with, so let’s get started!

Before I jump into the masks, I want to talk about some tips with you beforehand. The number one tip I have is to always steam your face before applying any mask. This is essential to opening up your pores and letting all of the active ingredients sink into your skin. It’s a great prep and you will reap the benefits afterwards. How do you steam? Well, first, start with clean skin. You can use the traditional method of placing a towel over your head and leaning over a bowl of hot water for about 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, you can put a mask on after a hot shower as your pores open up then as well. If you want a more lux option, the Conair True Glow Warm Steam and Cool Mist Facial System is a great way to pamper yourself during your facial at an affordable price.

A final huge tip I have is to try to avoid using any products with fragrance, even natural fragrances such as citrus, lavender, eucalyptus, (and in general any fragrance) as these can aggrevate your skin and show potential future damage to the skin.

Okay, loves, let’s talk Masks

Rata & Co Bamboo Face Mask – 9/10

First up, a sheet mask! Made in New Zealand, this mask has bamboo leaf extract which aids in soothing skin and is fragrance free! I leave this one on for about 10-20 minutes, then when I remove the sheet, I gently pat the remainder of the product into my skin. The goods? My skin felt so smooth and hydrated, and didn’t leave my face looking red. The bad? Boy, is this mask ever messy. But then again, not a lot of sheet masks go on gracefully…

Placenta Sheet Mask – 8/10

You heard right, folks – a placenta sheet mask! Sounds gross right? But the benefits are amazing as it aids in the production of elastin, hyaluronic acid, and collagen in the skin. I used this mask last night and I’m not going to lie, it was hard not to think about the fact that placenta extract was on my face… Nevertheless, I got through it after 15 minutes and my skin felt great – super plump, hydrated, and nourished.

Paula’s Choice SKIN RECOVERY Hydrating Treatment Mask – 10/10

This mask is EVERYTHING! If you are looking for something to soothe extra dry, flaky skin, this is it. It is amazing for dry skin and does not irritate my sensitive skin whatsoever. The ingredients in this gem are everything I could ask for to help repair and protect my skin. You can use this two different ways – After cleaning, steaming, and exfoliating, slather this on for min. 20 minutes, rinse off, and apply your moisturizer/serum/oil/etc. OR, leave it on overnight, rinse off in the morning, and apply your moisturizer (make sure it has an SPF of at least 30!)

Fresh Rose Face Mask – 8/10

Ahhh, the scent of fresh rose petals. What makes this mask so unique is it actually contains pieces of roses in the mask, amazing! I got a mini version of the mask as a birthday treat from Sephora and I was very happy with this year’s gift. It is definately a more luxe face mask for those of you wanting something a little extra special. The mask hydrates my skin and just brings me happiness when I breathe in the roses. What knocks my rating down? The fragrance; As I mentioned, I try not to use skincare with fragrance, but once in a while, if it doesn’t irritate my skin, I will (especially since I will be rinsing this off my face).

Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Hydra-Gel Eye Patches – 10/10

Onto eye patches (aka eye sheet masks)! Yes, this next product is actually infused with 24K gold as well as Colloidal gold, talk about skincare luxury! First off, the packaging of this product is beautiful, I’m talking the container as well as the product itself (it’s gold!). I used this a couple of times in the morning to help reduce my under-eye puffiness and minimize any wrinkles. The eye patches are infused with caffeine, and aloe, and contain beneficial ingredients to the skin such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid, collagen and niacinamide.

Mediheal N.M.F Aquaring Gel Eyefill Patch – 10/10

If you’re looking for a more affordable eye patch option, I would go for this one! The amount of moisture packed into these eye patches is insane. This is a great option for sensitive skin as the ingredients aren’t sensitizing and actually help soothe the eye area, while reducing puffiness. I also found that due to the hydrating properties, my under-eyes were more supple after using the patches. I recommend keeping these in your fridge for a refreshing cooling effect!

That’s a wrap! I hope my tips and mask recommendations were helpful. Next time I see you, I’ll be talking fashion!  😉

XOXO Dominika
